Aeroindia 2009 - Bengaluru
AERO INDIA 2009, India’s 7th International Aerospace and Defence exhibition was held at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka (AFSY) from 11-15 February, 2009. Speck has been participating as an exhibitor since 2005 and this event has been a platform for exhibiting to the users – the Defence Services as well as foreign OEMs. The users from Defence Services get the opportunity to meet OEMs and solution providers from across the world, in one place while foreign defence suppliers get to meet Indian companies and look for partners for marketing, maintenance and for meeting offset requirements. India is expected to spend close to Rs 4, 00,000 Crore ($100 billion) on Defence Procurements during the period of implementation of the 11th Plan (2007-2012). Considering that imports account for 70 per cent of the expenditure, offset obligations worth Rs 1,20,000 Crore ($30.4 billion) would be generated at 30 per cent of contract value. This provides opportunity for the Speck Systems Ltd.
Aero India 2009 a total of 500 plus dignitaries visited our stall from Defence, Dept. of Space and PSUs and received business enquiries in all the segments displayed. This is besides interest shown by foreign OEMs in making Speck a part of there Defence Offset Programs.
Map World Forum 2009
Map World Forum 2009 is a much awaited International Conference & Exhibition in the Geospatial Industry. The event took place in the Hyderabad International Convention Centre during 10th February 2009 to 13th February 2009. Speck Systems Limited participated and was the Industry co-sponsor for this event.
The conference and exhibition was inaugurated by Shri Abdul Hamid Ansari, Hon’ble Vice President of India with Shri Kapil Sibal, Union Minister for Science & Technology, India as the Chief Guest. Each day of the conference had a plenary session on topics like Geospatial Technologies and Sustainable Development, Geospatial Technology development & Trends, Geospatial for Public Sector & Geospatial for Sustainable Infrastructure Development, respectively. There were seminars on Coastal Zone Mapping for Disaster Management, Spatial Data Infrastructure, Urban Development, Third Dimension to National Mapping & Land Administration.
Speck Systems hosted the seminar for Land Administration. Prof. Stig Enemark, President of the International Federation of Surveyors, Denmark was one of the coveted speakers in the Land Administration seminar that was chaired by Shri Vinod Kr. Agarwal, IAS, ex-Commissioner of Survey, Settlement & Land Records, Andhra Pradesh. There were other technical sessions and location summits besides these plenary sessions and seminars.
Speck Systems won the best exhibitor award in the Map World Forum 2009 putting up an excellent show of its services in Survey, Mapping, Land Information System, GIS based software applications, Virtual Geomatics IV
(a LiDAR Processing & Mapping application built by Virtual Geomatics, a subsidiary of Speck Systems Limited in Canada), the Nexview – a large format digital camera for Aerial Photography and LiDAR data acquisition and the Baaz (the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Speck Systems also received an award on behalf of the Corporation of Chennai, India on Geospatial Excellence for rendering GIS services in Vehicle Tracking System which has a positive implication of improved governance in the organization.
